A typical pipe or conduit penetration through steel floor grating framed by wide-flange beams. A supporting angle member of size L3x3x3/4 is positioned below the grating and attached with a one-quarter inch fillet weld. Edge bars are secured with one each per bar. The detail specifies a minimum one foot typical clearance and a maximum one inch offset for the opening framing. If the dimension to the edge of the wide flange beam is less than six inches, the support angle may be omitted.
