This assembly consists of a steel column welded to a base plate, which is anchored to a concrete foundation using four 3/4-inch diameter F1554 Grade 55 weldable anchor rods. The column web is connected to the base plate with 5/16-inch fillet welds on both sides, specifically avoiding the K-region. Each anchor rod is secured with a 1/4-inch thick, 2-inch by 2-inch plate washer featuring a 13/16-inch diameter hole. A 1-1/2-inch layer of non-shrink grout is provided beneath the base plate, with anchor rod projection set at 5-1/2 inches. The base plate dimensions are determined per the structural plan and schedule, and the assembly requires oversized holes in the base plate per American Institute of Steel Construction recommendations.
