This assembly features a hollow structural section column welded to a 1-inch by 16-inch by 16-inch steel base plate with a 5/16-inch fillet weld. The base plate is secured to the concrete foundation using four 7/8-inch diameter ASTM F1554 Grade 36 anchor bolts with a minimum 12-inch embedment. A minimum 1-inch shim and grout space is provided beneath the base plate for leveling. The anchor bolt pattern is set at 11 inches on center, with 2 1/2-inch edge distances, resulting in a total base plate width of 1 foot 4 inches. Per the notes, oversized holes for anchor rods must follow American Institute of Steel Construction standards, and plate washers with standard holes are to be fully welded to the base plate with galvanized coatings repaired after welding.
