A metal deck edge assembly at a steel column addresses conditions at both the column flange and the column web. A 3/8-inch bent plate or angle is secured at the exterior edge with two fasteners per angle. A 3/16-inch fillet weld is applied to both sides of the bent plate as specified per plan. Where clearances are less than 2 inches, the edge plate is omitted and filled for the width of the column typically with a 1-inch minimum clearance.
