A buckling-restrained brace connects to an existing W10x49 steel column and concrete grade beam supported by a twenty-four-inch diameter pile. A new concrete corbel is doweled into the pile using four total number four dowels with seven and one-half inches of embedment set in HIT-RE 500 V3 adhesive, featuring an intentionally roughened surface to one-quarter inch amplitude. Four total one-inch diameter ASTM F1554 Grade 55 anchor bolts secure a base plate matching the existing plate to the grade beam and concrete corbel. A gusset plate connects the buckling-restrained brace to the assembly, with a gray hatch indicating the portion of the existing grade beam to be removed and re-cast after the brace and gusset installation. Web stiffeners are provided on the existing W10x49 column, and existing reinforcing rebar is to be protected and remain continuous.
