This structural mass-timber connection joins two glulam beams using a concealed one-half-inch thick knife plate and a three-quarter-inch thick seat plate dapped into the beam. The assembly is fastened with two three-quarter-inch diameter pins through the lower section and twelve total four-inch metal screws at three inches on center staggered on each side of the knife plate. A six-inch clearance is maintained at the joint, with varying clearances of one inch and one-half inch at the interface. Fillet welds of five-sixteenths inch secure the steel plate components.
