A galvanized 5-inch standard pipe column rests on a steel beam utilizing a half-inch by 8-inch by 8-inch bearing plate welded with a five-sixteenth-inch fillet weld. A half-inch galvanized cap plate tops the pipe column and secures a galvanized 3-inch by 6-inch by 6-inch plate with seven-eighth-inch diameter machine bolts for a galvanized L4x4x1-quarter kicker brace. A full-depth shear tab for a perpendicular beam is welded to the supporting steel beam per detail 6 on sheet S5.01.
