A skewed beam-to-beam connection supports a hollow structural section post measuring 4.000 inches by 0.313 inches with a one-half-inch by six-inch square plate at the top. A one-inch diameter A572 Grade 50 U-rod anchors into the top plate with quarter-inch fillet welds top and bottom. The base plate measures three-quarters of an inch by eight inches and is welded to the wide flange beam per plan with quarter-inch and five-sixteenths-inch fillet welds. Full-depth web stiffeners are provided on each side of the supporting wide flange beam. Plan views provide detailing for both small skews under forty-five degrees and large skews of forty-five degrees or larger relative to the girder bottom flange and web. The design load is specified at 5000 pounds under LRFD criteria, with a maximum height of two feet and minimum clearances noted.
