The buckling restrained brace frame base plate connection consists of a three-inch thick structural steel base plate made from 50 KSI steel welded to the brace assembly. Four pairs of two-inch diameter ASTM F1554 Grade 105 anchor bolts secure the base plate, utilizing three-inch diameter holes in the plate and one-and-a-half by five-inch square plate washers with two-and-one-sixteenth-inch diameter holes. Complete joint penetration welds with double bevel groove welds are specified at the flanges. Additional anchor bolts are provided as required to maintain maximum bolt spacing based on the required gusset length specified by the buckling restrained brace supplier.
