Floor joists bear on either side of a wide-flange steel beam utilizing web stiffeners per the supplier and joist hangers sized per plan. A four-inch top plate nailer matches the beam flange width and is secured with three-quarter-inch diameter threaded rods at sixteen inches on center, countersunk and placed nine inches maximum from each end of the nailer and splice. Simpson MSTI48 strap ties at forty-eight inches on center align with wall anchors and fasten with twenty-four ten-penny by two-and-three-eighth-inch nails at each end where joists occur on both sides of the wide-flange beam.
