A formed pipe trench is recessed into a concrete slab on grade. The slab reinforcement is hooked at the trench edges and continued along the trench profile with matching reinforcement sizes. A typical class A lap splice is provided in the main slab reinforcement away from the depressed trench zone. Slab thickness and specific reinforcing bar sizes are specified per the structural plans.
