An incoming brace connects to the column web and flange via vertical plates, column flange stiffener plates, and a gusset plate provided per the buckling-restrained brace supplier with a one-inch minimum thickness. The column flanges and web are welded to the base plate using complete joint penetration welds. Additional vertical plates are positioned at multiple locations around the base plate with specific dimensional clearances relative to the column centerline and anchor rod configuration.
