A structural steel beam frames onto a steel column sized per plan and schedule. A steel cap plate detailed in the column schedule sits atop the column and is secured with a one-quarter inch fillet weld. A beam web stiffener or beam web connection plate is welded to each side of the beam web using one-quarter inch fillet welds on three sides. Additional connection hardware fastens the beam flange to the cap plate.
