A quarter-inch stiffener plate is welded to the opposite side of a beam shear connection web using three-sixteenths-inch fillet welds extending half the depth of the web and along the top and bottom flanges. The detail notes that the quarter-inch stiffener plate is not required where a full-height stiffener plate already exists within six inches of the opposite side of the beam shear connection. The supporting beam and top of steel elevation are sized per the framing plan.
