Welded splice connection showing structural steel flange and web thickness transitions for truss chords. The aligned flange thickness transition uses a two-and-a-half to one slope with a complete joint penetration weld. For centered flange and web thickness transitions where the thicker plate T1 is greater than or equal to two-and-a-half times the thinner plate T2, fillet welds sized at seventy-one percent of T2 are applied unless noted otherwise. When T1 is less than two-and-a-half times T2, a two-and-a-half to one slope is provided with a complete joint penetration weld.
