An HSS column base plate is set inside a concrete foundation mat blockout. The assembly features number 4 dowels spaced at twelve inches on center typically around all four sides of the column, along with continuous slab reinforcement or two number 5 minimum trim bars. Additional reinforcement includes six number 6 bars measuring five feet long at eight inches on center each way at the blockout. A six-inch minimum clearance is maintained at the blockout edges, with mat reinforcement detailed per plan.
