A hollow structural section member connects to a truss purlin with a continuous 18-gauge steel strap secured by two rows of Pneutek pins at beam-nail spacing. Four lines of pins are used where the beam-nail pattern is staggered, and six lines are used where three lines of nailing are required. A 2 1/2-inch dimension separates the structural elements, and a splice location is referenced to the structural plan. A section view labeled B-B indicates the perpendicular orientation of the hollow structural section across the assembly.
