An HSS 4x4x3/8 strut brace connects to a wide-flange column and beam assembly through a one-half inch by ten-inch by one-foot eight-inch kerf plate extending through the column web on each side. The incoming beam frames into the column with a bolted shear tab while the strut brace intersects at a work point defined by dimensions on plan. Fillet welds of five-sixteenth and one-quarter inch sizes secure the brace and plate components according to structural design notes. An angle brace provides additional lateral support per section requirements where indicated.
