This structural section details a built-up steel plate girder fabricated from multiple plates with a yield strength of 50 ksi. The top flange utilizes a plate measuring 1-1/2 inches by 16 inches, while the bottom flange uses a plate measuring 1 inch by 15 inches. A vertical web plate is connected to the top and bottom flanges with typical complete joint penetration groove welds. Two sets of intermediate horizontal or transverse stiffener plates, measuring 1-1/2 inches by 7-1/2 inches and 1 inch by 7 inches, are welded to the web plate with typical complete joint penetration welds.
