An HSS member frames into a wide flange column sized per schedule with a bearing plate measuring 1/2 inch by 5 inches welded underneath. A 1/4 inch cap plate is welded to the end of the HSS member with a seam weld. Fillet welds of 5/16 inch size connect the HSS to the bearing plate and column flange.
