An exterior wall expansion joint incorporates double cold-formed metal framing studs spaced with a two-inch gap. The assembly includes exterior sheathing and interior gypsum board layers terminating at the joint. A sealant joint seals the exterior perimeter per architectural specifications, and the interior finish joint is detailed per architectural plans.
