A structural steel column connects to framing steel beams utilizing a one-half-inch cap plate sized per the column schedule. Steel beams frame into the column web and flanges via bolted connection tabs, supplemented by one-quarter-inch fillet welds at exterior perimeter beams. Web stiffeners are welded to the column web to reinforce the connection against concentrated loads from the framing members. A metal roof deck bears continuously across the top of the assembly.
