A masonry wall is centered on a wide-flange steel beam with a depth less than or equal to four feet six inches. A three-inch typical top-of-wall gap is maintained beneath a wide-flange beam welded to a bent plate sized at six by three and a half by five-sixteenths inches by one foot zero inches, or a similar bent plate at S2. A bond beam supports the assembly with three-sixteenths-inch fillet welds. Lateral support is provided by an angle brace welded with three-sixteenths-inch fillet welds to the beam.
