A concrete slab over metal deck bears on a wide flange beam oriented parallel to the deck flutes, with shear studs welded through the deck to the top flange. Additional studs are provided at the member ends to meet the quantity indicated on the structural plans. Minimum stud spacing is four and one-half inches, and maximum stud spacing is twenty-four inches, unless noted otherwise. A one and one-half inch clearance is maintained typically. The framing spans from the centerline of symmetry to the centerline of the supporting girder or face of the column.
