Additional reinforcing steel is detailed in plan around a structural steel column intersecting grid lines. Two number five bars are placed with a one-inch clearance from the top of the slab, terminating in hooks at the slab edge where applicable. Beams frame into the column with sizes specified per plan, and the steel deck is omitted from the view for clarity. A typical dimension of two feet six inches spans the column zone.
