A cranked reinforcing bar laps with a parallel vertical reinforcing bar to transfer tensile forces across a change in plane or offset. The cranked bar features a six-to-one offset slope followed by a minimum six-inch straight length before the lap zone. The parallel bars overlap vertically for the full required lap splice length.
