This structural connection detail features a wide-flange steel column intersecting with steel framing beams, a structural brace, and a gusset plate assembly. The brace connects to a one-half-inch thick A572 Grade 50 gusset plate welded to the column and a three-quarter-inch by six-inch bearing plate with seven-eighth-inch diameter A325 bolts at five inches on center. The steel framing beams connect to the column flange using standard holes and sixteen seven-eighth-inch diameter A325-N bolts, with twelve bolts used at similar conditions. A three-quarter-inch steel cap plate sits atop the column below the gusset connection, with quarter-inch and five-sixteenth-inch fillet welds specified throughout the joint. A one-inch minimum clearance is maintained at the work point.
