A typical beam-to-girder framing connection utilizes a shear plate and bolts. One-inch diameter bolts are spaced at one and three-quarter inch pitches with specified minimum and maximum edge and clearance dimensions. Where a beam occurs on one side only, a full height stiffener plate of one-half inch minimum thickness is added on the far side or the shear plate is extended the full depth of the girder, requiring one side of the flange to be chipped and ground as necessary. Stiffener plates are extended to match the depth for deeper members.
