A hollow structural section brace of 3 1/2 by 2 1/2 by 1/4 inches is laid flat and centered above a 3/8-inch stiffener plate spaced at 10'-0" o.c. maximum along a steel beam. Angles sized 5 by 5 by 5/16 inches attach to each side of the tube and each side of the stiffener plate for a total of four angles. The tube connects to the top flange of the joist with a 3/16-inch fillet weld at 3 inches typical. A continuous galvanized strap of 18 gauge by 1 1/2 inches wide is placed on top of the sheathing above the tube and secured with boundary nailing using compressed air driven pins per ICC ESR 2902.
