A galvanized hollow structural section HSS 6x6x3/8 member connects to a structural steel column, supporting a roof ladder at a maximum distance of four feet. A galvanized one-half inch by seven-inch by seven-inch steel end plate welds to the end of the HSS member with a typical quarter-inch fillet weld. The ladder design accommodates a maximum gravity load of 750 pounds and a maximum lateral load of 500 pounds. The roof ladder is provided by others with coordination required through the general contractor.
