A thickened concrete slab edge bears on a continuous concrete footing. A sand bed or poly slip sheet is placed beneath the thickened slab section. The perimeter reinforcement includes one continuous fifteen-M reinforcing bar top and bottom, supplemented by fifteen-M Z-bars spaced at thirty-two inches on center complete with pipe insulation typical at all footings. The slab edge features a three-to-one slope or chamfer to suit architectural requirements, while primary slab reinforcement is sized per plan.
