A square concrete blockout centers on a hollow structural section or wide flange column base plate. Control joints extend from each corner of the square blockout at ninety-degree angles. The column and base plate occupy the center of the blockout, with the base plate configuration referenced to detail 10/S701. The layout is symmetrical, and the blockout accommodates architectural finishes.
