An HSS6x4 hollow structural section column welds to a three-quarter-inch by six-inch by nine-inch embedded steel plate set flush with the top of the slab. Two three-quarter-inch diameter by six-inch welded headed studs anchor the embed plate into the concrete below. A one-quarter-inch fillet weld secures the column to the base plate.
