A steel beam frames into a supporting steel girder with a slotted plate matching the beam flange, where the plate is slotted rather than the beam web. Beam web stiffeners are welded to each side of the web both above and below the slotted plate with quarter-inch fillet welds. A metal roof deck bears directly above the structural steel framing.
