A wide flange beam connects to a wide flange column web using a 3/8 inch shear plate with erection bolts as required, welded with a 5/16 inch fillet weld on three sides at the extended plate. Stiffener plates measuring 3/4 inch typical are welded to the column flange with quarter-inch fillet welds. Section A-A provides a plan view of the beam web bolted to the shear plate against the column centerline. Additional notes specify that similar conditions apply for beams on both sides of the column, and extended shear plates are used where indicated with an asterisk on the plan.
