A wide flange beam frames into the web of a supporting wide flange beam via a bolted shear plate. The supported beam features a coped top and bottom flange as required for clearance, with complete joint penetration welds at the flange top and bottom. Four vertical bolts secure the web of the incoming beam through a shear plate welded to the supporting girder. Horizontal short slotted holes are permitted in the shear plate with hardened washers provided over the slots. If dimension A exceeds six inches, the shear plate extends to match the opposing shear plate.
