A hollow structural section column per plan is anchored to a three-quarter-inch thick steel base plate measuring six inches by ten inches. Four anchor bolts are symmetrically arranged around the column with typical edge distances of one and one-half inches and two and one-half inches, and a three-inch bolt spacing. A quarter-inch fillet weld secures the column to the base plate.
