A wide flange beam connects to a hollow structural section column using a three-eighths-inch thick shear plate. The plate is welded to the hollow structural section column with a five-sixteenths-inch fillet weld, sized per the AISC Steel Construction Manual 15th Edition for skew. The wide flange beam web is fastened to the shear plate with two seven-eighths-inch diameter A325-N bolts through fifteen-sixteenths-inch standard holes. The wide flange beam size and top of steel elevation are sized per plan.
