A wide flange or hollow structural section column supports a beam per plan with a two-foot cantilever typical. A three-quarter-inch plate welded with five-sixteenths fillet welds connects to the top of the support, secured by four three-quarter-inch diameter machine bolts. A three-quarter-inch by twelve-inch splice plate of fifty ksi steel is provided on each side, centered on the splice with a one-half-inch maximum gap. Connections utilize A325-N high-strength bolts in horizontal short-slotted holes with sizes and quantities detailed in the schedule. Five-sixteenths fillet welds are applied near side and far side at the web splice, with typical bolt locations dimensioned at one and one-half inches.
