This hollow structural section column cap plate connection utilizes a three-eighths-inch thick cap plate for hollow structural sections six by six or smaller, and a half-inch thick cap plate for hollow structural sections seven by seven or larger unless noted otherwise. A shear tab is provided where indicated for framing attachment. Welds are specified with typical sizing based on the column and web thickness.
