A hollow structural section post aligns with the centerlines of a wide flange beam and a base plate measuring 1 inch by 8 inches by 1 foot 0 inches. Four 7/8-inch-diameter high-strength bolts secure the assembly on the wide flange beam gauge. A 5/16-inch fillet weld joins the hollow structural section post to the base plate. Full-depth stiffener plates are provided below the hollow structural section on each side of the wide flange beam web.
