The roof joist bears onto an existing concrete beam with a roof deck spanning overhead. A 3/8-inch by 8-inch steel plate, sized to the width of the concrete and field-verified, is secured to the concrete beam using four 1/2-inch diameter adhesive anchors with a 4-inch embedment. The roof joists are welded to the steel bearing plate with a 1/4-inch fillet weld applied at 2 inches typical spacing.
