This detail specifies the reinforcing bar placement around openings in a concrete slab over metal deck. Three number four bars are placed typically along each side of the opening, with one-and-a-half-inch typical spacing. For openings smaller than one foot by one foot, diagonal bars are provided only and side bars are omitted. All diagonal bars require a one-foot-six-inch minimum extension beyond the opening corners.
