A continuous plate is welded to the top flange of the steel beam, with plate thickness sized relative to the beam flange thicknesses plus one-eighth inch. A five-eighths inch bar per drawing specifications is installed at the top flange location only. Shear tabs with bolted connections secure the beam web to the structural steel column flange. Fillet welds of five-sixteenths inch size connect components as specified by reference notes.
