A structural steel beam frames into a hollow structural section column using a single plate shear tab welded to the column face and bolted to the beam web. The shear tab is fillet welded to the HSS column with a size based on the scheduled weld plus one-sixteenth inch. The beam web fastens to the shear tab with bolted connections featuring a first row of bolts and additional bolts sized per the structural plans. Alignment and top of steel elevations reference the column centerline and beam dimensions.
