This connection detail joins a wide flange beam or channel to a hollow structural section column using a bolted framing connection and a cap plate at the top of the column. The beam web connects with bolts sized and numbered per plan through a connection plate welded with a one-quarter inch fillet weld. The top and bottom of the connection feature a field weld designated with a half-inch size marker.
