A composite concrete slab and metal deck bear directly on an interior steel girder with shear studs welded through the deck. Number four reinforcing bars spanning four feet six inches at sixteen inches on center are centered over the interior girder and placed after typical slab reinforcement. Continuous chair supports sit on each side beneath the reinforcement. The low flute in the deck aligns with the top of the girder, and gaps in the deck are welded down directly to the girder. A three-quarter to one-inch clearance is maintained.
