A structural steel base plate measuring 1 inch by 16 inches by 1 foot 4 inches is embedded with nine number 6 reinforcing bars and anchored into a concrete foundation. A pair of 3/8-inch by 4-inch by 1-foot 4-inch plates are welded typically to the lower dowels with 1/4-inch fillet welds. Side gusset plates measuring 1/2 inch by 10 inches by 1 foot 0 inches and 1/2 inch by 8 inches by 0 feet 10 inches are welded to the assembly with 5/16-inch fillet welds on three sides. Two number 8 vertical reinforcing bars extending 8 feet 0 inches long each side run through the connection zone above a two-and-a-half-inch grout layer.
