A concrete masonry unit wall runs parallel beneath a steel roof deck supported by a roof joist or wide-flange beam. Continuous C5x6.7 channels for 8-inch CMU or C5x9 channels for 12-inch CMU attach to each side of the masonry wall at an 8-foot maximum span, welded with quarter-inch fillet welds. The masonry extends at least one course above the channels to meet the underside of the roof structure. A compressible fire-rated filler seals the top gap between the masonry bond beam and the corrugated steel roof deck.
