This structural steel detail shows a supported beam framing into a supporting beam using a seated connection. The supported beam features a slotted bottom flange to accommodate the seat plate, with a minimum depth clearance specified as one-half the beam depth or six inches minimum. Three-eighths-inch stiffener plates are welded to both sides of the supporting beam web, centered with the supported beam web. Seven-eighths-inch diameter A325-N bolts fasten the connection on beam gauges, with one bolt near side and one far side. Fillet welds of one-quarter-inch size are applied on three sides typically.
